Hedwig Katzenberger was born in Krefeld/Germany. She studied philosophy and comparative religious sciences in Bonn. Following the attainment of her diploma and doctorate she turned to painting.

Hedwig Katzenberger’s paintings are predominantly monochrome. First on paper, then on canvas, she has developed her very own form of water-colouring whose nuanced colour and light sequences are unique.

For the past thirty years Hedwig Katzenberger has lived and worked in Icking, south of Munich.
